Joel is the base and court composer of the group. He lives with his wife and two children in Stångby, where he writes and arranges music for a number of choirs and vocal groups, including The Real Group and Vocal Six. Joel has a degree in music from Malmö Music Academy and has, like most of the other members of Pros & Cons, been involved in the student spexes and the Lundakarnevals, primarily as lead conductor. Joel has also conducted a wide range of orchestras, from musicals, to circus, to even more musicals. This somewhat perverse love of musicals has resulted in Joel composing two of his own; the success musical SPEL in 2001 (under the pseudonym Joel Persson) and Den bästa av världar in 2008. When he isn’t writing, arranging, or rehearsing music, Joel teaches music at the Lars-Erik Larsson high school in Lund.
